        Marriage Record Translation (September 4, 1894)

        The fourth of September, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, given the dispensation of two bans of marriage granted by Monsignor Gravel (Vicar General), in view of the publication of the third ban made at the prone (sermon) of our parish mass, as well as at the prone of the parish mass of Sainte-Eulalie, as it appears by the certificate of Monsieur Prince, priest of the place, between:

        Charles Tourigny, farmer, residing in Sainte-Eulalie, adult son of Odilon Tourigny, farmer, and of Célina Hébert, of Sainte-Eulalie, on the one part;

        And Anny Lupien, residing in this parish, minor daughter of Onésime Lupien, farmer, and of the late Léa Hébert, of this parish, on the other part;

        No impediment having been discovered, we the undersigned, Priest of this parish, have received their mutual consent of marriage and have given them the nuptial blessing in the presence of the aforementioned Odilon Tourigny and Onésime Lupien, who have signed with us and the spouses.

        Signatures:

        Anny Lupien

        Charles Tourigny

        Odilon Tourigny

        Onésime Lupien

        ***Note on "Dispensation of Bans": In traditional Catholic law, a "ban" was a public announcement of an intended marriage made on three consecutive Sundays. A "dispensation of two bans" means the couple received official permission to skip two of those announcements to speed up the wedding process.
